Winona’s Hoeppner named WIAC player of year

Winona native Hallee Hoeppner was named the WIAC women’s basketball player of the year.

The 5-foot-10 junior led the conference averaging 18.3 points for UW-Eau Claire (13-12 overall, 4-10 WIAC). She was third in rebounds (7.8) and second in minutes (36.7).

Hoeppner shot 48.1 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from beyond the arc (43 of 124) this season.

The 2016 Winona Senior High School graduate scored a conference-high 36 points in an 81-76 loss to UW-Stout. She was 14-for-22 from the field and 2 of 5 from beyond the arc, while adding 12 rebounds and four blocks.
