New DNR boss calls Evers a prizefighter for clean water

Bringing science back to the DNR.

That’s very important to Preston Cole, the man who’s been nominated to head Natural Resources in Wisconsin under Gov. Tony Evers.

Cole came to La Crosse on Friday, meeting with local leaders about clean water programs, and other nature concerns in the area.

Cole calls Evers a “prizefighter” in the battle to be sure Wisconsin’s water is high-quality.

The DNR nominee has served on the Natural Resources board for the past 12 years, under previous governors Jim Doyle and Scott Walker.

Cole is one of the Evers cabinet members who visited Wisconsin schools on Friday for “Read Across America” Day.

He met with young kids at Summit School on French Island.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
