A south La Crosse park is likely to get new fencing this year.

The city finance committee has approved contingency funds for fixing the ballfield fence at Bluffview Park, east of Losey Boulevard.

Interim park director Jay Odegaard said the chain link fence is wearing out and, if it isn’t repaired soon, and the ball diamond doesn’t have a backstop, they probably wouldn’t be able to play baseball games at Bluffview this season.

Money for the repairs would be taken from a city contingency fund.

The full La Crosse city council takes up the matter next week.
