The state where the Republican Party was founded will host the Democratic National Convention next year.

Democrats have chosen Milwaukee as the site for their nominating convention July 13-16, 2020

Mike Smuksta, the La Crosse County Democratic Party Chair, hopes that having the convention in Wisconsin will help add to the momentum from last fall’s election when Tony Evers defeated Gov. Scott Walker.

Meanwhile, some Wisconsin Republicans, including Sen. Ron Johnson, think the Democratic Convention will help their party.

They argue that when voters see what Democrats want to do, it will make them want to vote for Donald Trump instead.

Wisconsin Democrats are predicting that 50,000 people will come to Milwaukee next year for the convention.

The Fiserv Forum was chosen to host the event, over locations in Houston and Miami.
