Wisconsin Congressman threatens to sue ICE over September sweep records

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan is threatening to sue U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials if they don’t provide more records related to a September sweep that resulted in the arrests of dozens of people.

The Democrat for Wisconsin’s 2nd District filed a Freedom of Information Act request for records of the Sept. 21-24 sweep in October. He held a news conference Monday to announce ICE finally turned over 411 pages on Feb. 27. He says 294 pages were completely redacted.

Pocan says the delay and the lack of disclosure is an “intentional misuse” of the request process. He pledged to appeal the agency’s decision but said eventually he’ll sue to get the information if he must.

Pocan said the documents he did receive show 39 of the 83 people ICE arrested had no documented criminal history.

    Ignorance is “bliss”;wait until Madison is a “Sanctuary City”, wait until “He” will appreciate ICE! We will see!
