Crest has occurred upriver, and water is slowly going down
The Mississippi has already crested at some locations north of La Crosse.
According to the National Weather Service, the river rose to 15.5 feet yesterday at Wabasha and Alma, before starting to go down.
Crests are anticipated today in Winona and La Crescent.
Wednesday is still the date predicted for a crest in La Crosse, at 14.7 feet.
The river was at 14.5 feet at 7 o’clock this morning…high enough to close Riverside Park and other park properties in the city.
The water level could drop back down to 14 feet by next Monday night.
