Finance committee gets La Crosse Center design on Thursday

A big decision on the future of the La Crosse Center is expected this month from the city council.

The council’s finance committee reviews design plans on Thursday, and a final vote is scheduled at the full council meeting next week.

Center board president Brent Smith knows that some taxpayers wonder why any changes have to be made to the building…which might lead Smith and others to ask, have you been there lately?

Smith says the ‘status quo’ will not work for the 39-year-old building, and he thinks the council is aware of major changes made in the plan, since a proposed west addition was voted down last summer.

The center board wants council approval of the new plans soon, so a construction timetable can stay on schedule.
