Storms throughout the Coulee Region have left several communities without electricity, for at least part of Thursday.

Most of the city of Westby lost power around 6 o’clock this morning, apparently because of ice on one line that normally provided power to three sub-stations.

About 2000 co-op customers lost electricity, in an area between Sparta and Viroqua.

Winds and storms cut power to some southern Minnesota towns as well.

Rushford and Lewiston are among the communities served by ITC that experienced outages because of broken power poles.
