The river stage in La Crosse will probably stay above the 12-foot flood level for at least another week.

The Mississippi is down to 12-and-a-half feet today, falling nearly a foot since Sunday morning.

Weather service forecasters say the river may settle at about that level for a couple of days before rising again on Friday…and the water could return to almost 13 feet by Tuesday.

Downriver, in McGregor, the Mississippi could fall in the next 24 hours below the 19 foot level, which is still 3 feet over flood stage.
