An October trial date has been scheduled for a La Crosse man who stabbed and killed another man in a cab back in January.

A jury will be selected Oct. 14 for Anquin St. Junious’ trial. The 39-year-old is accused of stabbing Virgil Stewart in a taxi Jan. 2, when Stewart confronted the suspect and his wife.

St. Junious suggested that the argument with Stewart was connected to a physical attack on him days earlier by a group of people in La Crosse.

St. Junious and Annette Thompson were getting into the taxi when Stewart arrived on the scene. An argument began inside the cab and Stewart was stabbed.

Stewart then drove a car to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour after the attack.

The trial could last about a week.

The St. Junious case is one of two high-profile murder trials scheduled in La Crosse County for October.

The following week, Erik Sackett goes on trial for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend and trying to hide her body in a lake.
