Winona cuts list of school superintendent candidates to 6

The Winona School District has reduced its list of candidates for superintendent to six semi-finalists.

Fifteen people in all had applied to succeed current superintendent Rich Dahman, who’s leaving the job at the end of the school year.

Three of the candidates are already superintendents in Minnesota…including Randi Anderson of Pelican Rapids, who worked with the La Crosse School District several years ago.

Prairie du Chien superintendent Robert Smudde also is in the running.

The six candidates will be interviewed this weekend, and members of the public in Winona will get to meet the three finalists next week.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
