Food truck rules will be delayed for a month

La Crosse’s city council will get another month to “chew over” possible restrictions on food trucks in the downtown area. 

The council voted Thursday night to postpone action on the new food vending rules until its June meeting. 

The delay comes at the request of Downtown Mainstreet, Inc., and the local restaurant association. 

A proposed ordinance might keep street vendors from setting up within 150 feet of a restaurant, which could be considered a direct competitor.
