River swimmer rescued after being stranded on island
Most of us wouldn’t even consider going for a swim in the Mississippi River this time of year.
Most of us.
One man, however, decided Wednesday was a fine time to take a dip.
The man jumped into the river late in the afternoon and swam to a nearby island.
By the time he got there, he was, of course, cold and tired, forcing a rescue.
The Campbell Fire department and the La Crosse Dive Team rescued the man just after 5 p.m.
