Center board leader is open to saving a seat for La Crosse County
La Crosse County could wind up with a seat on the La Crosse Center Board in the future, according to the president of that board.
Brent Smith says he’s open to having a county representative on the civic center board, after county administrator Steve O’Malley charged that the county has been excluded from planning on a remodeling project.
Smith tells WIZM that there’s room to appoint more people to the 9-member center board, noting that the board has ranged in size from 7 to 13 members in recent years.
A couple of seats on the center board are routinely set aside for La Crosse city council members.
O’Malley mentioned the county’s absence from La Crosse Center planning, when the center requested $2 million of county money over the next 20 years.
Smith says funding from several local governments could reduce the overall tax burden for the $42 million dollar expansion.

Why does the city expect financial support from surrounding municipalities when it gains more and offers less. Now that they need money they are willing to offer seats on the board of financial fiasco to court support for their misguided expansion How much infrastructure could be repaired with these funds, that would benefit far more people, than said entertainment center.
