This year marks the 10th anniversary of Miracle Field, the all-abilities baseball park in Onalaska, run by the RW Houser YMCA.

The privately funded field has helped hundreds of athletes feel like their peers.

“It gives these athletes an opportunity to build their self confidence and build friendships,” inclusion specialist Bri Spicer said. “And, it helps them realize this is a sport everyone can participate in.”

The field is much easier to navigate, especially for those in wheelchairs.

“A normal grass and dirt field, the wheels would have a tougher time getting through,” Spicer said. “With the rubberized surface it helps them move freeer from base to base, and play more independently.”

Events are planned for Thursday at 5 p.m. and it will include a game.

Spicer said it’s an opportunity to be grateful and reflect on the past.

“We’re looking forward to seeing all of our current and past athletes and recognize our donors who made this dream become a reality,” she said.
