Viterbo student to interview Onalaska school staff on dealing with mental health
A Viterbo University student is attempting to learn more about how educators view the current mental health crisis among students and its ability to help.
This week, the Onalaska School Board approved the project from Viterbo’s Kaitlyn Kirtz, to survey its staff.
Kirtz, reportedly, is seeking approval for several districts to survey educators, as well.
Questions will focus on a school’s place in tackling mental health issues and which symptoms it sees most in students.
Onalaska Superintendent Fran Finco explained the project to board members. He stated that, in looking over the survey, the identity of the person responding wouldn’t be compromised.
A proposal explaining the project said it isn’t intended to change any mental health services offered by districts, or affect faculty’s job status.
