Winona State’s vice president for university advancement is leaving the school.
Dr. Ron Dempsey has been named the next President of Oakland City University, in southern Indiana.
In a statement, Dempsey, who has been at WSU the past three and a half years, talked of what he sees as future successes WSU will have after his departure, including the Warriors Game Day experience, stadium renovations and a new “Daxtronic video board,” along with the first phase renovations for the Laird Norton Center for Art and Design.
At the end of his statement, he noted, “I do plan to come back for a football game to see the video board and revisit Laird Norton when it is open.”
WSU will soon announce a process for identifying an interim VP for advancement, and will begin a search for a new permanent VP for University Advancement.
Dempsey also talked about successes with the Warriors Innovate Challenge, the CoB Endowment, and having surpassed five-year fundraising goals.
“I cannot express how much I have enjoyed my time here and the successes we have achieved,” Dempsey wrote. “I am very proud of having been associated with such as great team: University Advancement, The Foundation, and WSU.”
Previous to his postion at WSU, Dempsey was vice president for advancement and university development at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia.
