B-29 Superfortress, B-24 Liberator featured at La Crosse Airport’s “How Time Flies” festival this weekend
La Crosse’s airport is celebrating 100 years of local aviation with a big event this weekend.
The ‘How Time Flies‘ festival officially runs from Friday through Sunday.
Some of the airplanes featured at the festival arrived Thursday, such as a B-29 Superfortress and a B-24 Liberator.
Those bombers will be making two runs, each, between 9-11 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
The event marks 100 years since La Crosse’s first airport, Salzer Field, opened along Losey Boulevard.
Event Details
- The event will take place on the Civil Air Patrol Ramp, on the east side of the airfield
- Free admission to games, activities, food and behind the fence viewing of the planes
- Free parking
- Entry Free – For viewing of planes and cockpit tours inside the fence
-Adults: $15
-Kids aged 9-17: $8
-Kids 8 and under: Free

My father who is 97 and a WWI vet. He was stationed in North Africa, and India he flew 76 missions from India to China over the Burma Hump. My question is are there any special accommodations available at the show for WWII veterans? He would love to see the planes you have on display, but needs some assistance getting around. Your input is appreciated. Thank you.
