One week left to apply for La Crosse police chief

There’s still time for candidates to apply for the job of La Crosse’s police chief.

The deadline for applications is Friday, August 16th.

Doug Happel from the city police and fire commission says about 10 resumes have been received so far, but he expects several more to be submitted just before the deadline.

About a month ago, the commission appointed Rob Abraham as interim police chief, to succeed Ron Tischer, who moved to Arizona.

Happel says the commission could start reviewing the applications at a meeting scheduled for August 22nd.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
