La Crosse mayor praises choice of new airport director

The new director of the La Crosse Regional Airport will have service expansion and firefighting needs on his agenda when he starts his job next month. 

Ian Turner was approved as Clint Torp’s successor by the La Crosse city council late last week. 

Turner is scheduled to start work in La Crosse on Sept. 9. 

Mayor Tim Kabat likes the types of experience Turner will bring from his current post in Pueblo, Colo., in areas such as rescue and firefighting, as well as motivating staff.    

Turner also comes to La Crosse six months after the airport added new daily service to Detroit.  

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
