La Crosse Center works on catering rules
Although you might think of the La Crosse Center as a site for concerts and conventions, much of its business during the year comes from hosting dinners and weddings.
Rules for catering were a hot topic for the center board when it met on Tuesday.
The board could vote soon on whether to establish a ‘preferred’ list of about 10 caterers for La Crosse Center events.
Board president Brent Smith says the Center could adopt a list of 10 local caterers which would be recommended to customers.
A proposed $500 fee for customers to cover the Center’s costs would be disclosed when somebody is booking the civic center.
Building staffers say they want to maintain a quality image — for example, by barring a caterer from using paper plates at a La Crosse Center event.
