Hmong and Lao veterans honored with statues in La Crosse
Two statues of Hmong and Lao soldiers have been dedicated, as the latest memorial to be installed at a north La Crosse park.
The statues honor Hmong and Lao soldiers, who helped U.S. troops in Vietnam. They were dedicated Saturday morning at the Veterans Freedom Park, along Clinton Street.
Two local Hmong veterans posed for the statues made by Sparta sculptor David Oswald.
The Hmong and Lao memorial is the latest to be placed at the local park, with La Crosse veteran Louis Ferris heading the fundraising effort.
Other statues in the park honor veterans of World War I and Korea, and female nurses from World War II.

For their sacrifices during Vietnam, they deserve the honor. This goes along with Louis Ferris for his outstanding work and dedication to the Memorial Park.
