Three suspects arrested for July La Crosse shooting

La Crosse Police arrested three people in connection to a shooting incident that happened July 19 on Caledonia Street.

Police officers were called to the Partners for Excellence School at 901 Caledonia Street after 10:00 a.m. on July 19 for a report of windows damaged overnight, according to a news release.

The investigation revealed the damage was a result of gunshots. Additionally, Officers found evidence of a shooting at an adjacent property at 932 Caledonia Street, which is the Society for Brotherhood (SFB) Motorcycle Club clubhouse.

While acting on a search warrant at the SFB Motorcycle Club clubhouse, investigators found a DVR with a surveillance camera system inside the property. The Wisconsin State Crime Lab located a recently deleted video showing the shooting incident.

La Crosse Police are referring Brandon Stemper, 31, his girlfriend Amber Peters, 24, and Javier “Tony” Ortiz to the La Crosse County District Attorney’s Office for criminal charges.

Police said Stemper is a member of the SFB Motorcycle Club. He is facing charges of 2nd-degree reckless endangerment of safety, a felon in possession of a firearm, and disorderly conduct.

Ortiz is a known member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club and is being referred on the charges of 2nd-degree reckless endangerment of safety and disorderly conduct, according to police.

More charges against Peters are possible pending district attorney review, but Peters currently faces obstruction.

La Crosse Police said this investigation highlights the dangers posed to the community and police when convicted felons are in possession of firearms.
