Two-month closure of George St. begins this week

Driving through La Crosse’s north side will become more difficult for the next couple of months. 

A three-block section of George Street, between Clinton and Gillette Streets, will be shut down for repair work beginning Thursday, and lasting until early November. 

Repairs need to be made underground, and the street will be repaved. 

The sidewalk along George Street also will be closed for those three blocks. 

Traffic using Highway 53 will be detoured to Rose Street during the construction.
