The entire incident was a hoax.

La Crosse Police confirmed that Wednesday’s 911 call regarding a shooting never happened.

Police say the man who called 911 stated he had shot his wife and a man she was with, after finding them together.

He gave dispatchers a specific address in the 400 block of 19th Street South and then hung up.

Police set a perimeter around the house and tried to call the person back several times.

They then entered with the La Crosse Emergency Response Team and found no evidence of the shooting.

Owners of the home confirm they hadn’t been in a shooting and were gone all day.

Police are not releasing the specific address to maintain the owner’s privacy
