A second generation area golf course will be closing towards the end of October.

Trempealeau Mountain Golf Club owner Eric Wilber sent a letter to members and the community at large Monday morning.

Wilber said the decision to close the course was a difficult one, but needed for the sake of his health and well-being.

A search for a buyer who would keep the land a golf course was attempted but wasn’t fruitful, though they will wait until October 1st before they start selling off the land, buildings and fixtures.

Those who purchased pre-season membership passes for 2020 will be refunded, and the course will close on October 20th.

Wilber says his parents’ dream was to turn a piece of land into a playground where families could learn to golf, grow, and laugh together.
