Man randomly attacked in La Crosse, police search for suspect

The suspect randomly attached an employee trying to enter work at Rudy’s Drive-In early Sunday morning.

La Crosse Police are searching for an individual who randomly attacked a man trying to enter Rudy’s Drive-In early Sunday morning.

Police say the man who attacked the victim was completely unprovoked. Jim Davenport was arriving for work around 3:55 a.m. As he prepared to unlock the door, a man came up to him, mumbled something and then punched him in the face. The suspect then ran northbound toward La Crosse Street. Davenport lost two teeth in the assault.

The suspect is described as a younger, college-aged white male wearing a grey or light blue polo shirt with a stripe across the front, khaki shorts and white Nike tennis shoes.

The Police Department asks anyone who knows the identity of the suspect to contact the police department at (608)-789-7240 and reference the incident number 19-45788.
