President Trump continues to put himself above American people

The “I” word has been hovering over President Donald Trump seemingly since his first day in office. Those calls have gotten louder in recent days amid the news that our President pressured a foreign country to take action for the purpose of his political gain. Trump allegedly pressured the new President of the Ukraine to investigate the Ukranian business dealings of the son of political rival Joe Biden. And now Trump has confirmed that he withheld military aid from Ukraine in hopes of getting that country to do his dirty work. I’ll leave it to the experts to decide whether that constitutes an impeachable offense, and if so whether drafting articles of impeachment is even a good idea. But what is clear is that Donald Trump continues to act in the interest of himself, not the people he represents. He has offered conflicting versions of the nature of his call, and it took days for him to come clean. But most egregiously, he has refused to release a transcript of the call, or even to inform Congress what was really said. Until he does, Trump will continue to be dogged by allegations that he put his personal political interests above the national security of our nation. Congress and the American people deserve to know whether the President of the United States abused his power and withheld funding to persuade a foreign country to assist him in the next election. Was it impeachable? Perhaps. Was it appropriate, or becoming of the office? Absolutely not.
