Town of Onalaska may change fireworks rules

Has this happened to you around the 4th of July?

You’re in bed at night, and somebody outside is shooting off fireworks, much later than you would expect.

The town of Onalaska is looking into new rules to cut down on private fireworks use, especially during odd hours.

Town clerk Mary Rinehart says the ordinance committee is considering “the safety involved, looking at the times, what’s required to get a fireworks permit.”

Rinehart says the complaint is going through the standard process, and a committee meeting is scheduled for next week.
