A ‘not guilty’ plea to reckless homicide has been submitted in Jackson County court by a Melrose man accused of the death of his baby girl.

A trial will be scheduled for Armas Cravins II, who had been babysitting for the 2-month-old infant and three other children one night in September.

The infant was found dead in a baby swing at the house.

Cravins also is accused of lesser child neglect charges, in relation to the other children who were being watched.

The baby’s mother was working that night while Cravins was with the children.
