A man from the Netherlands is scheduled to be tried in La Crosse early next year for stalking and other charges.

Gerwin Ferwerda is accused of coming to Wisconsin in 2018 to see the girlfriend he met on-line.

Ferwerda allegedly hit the Onalaska woman’s car with a baseball bat and threatened her with a knife.

The 23-year-old suspect has a January trial date, for failing to report to jail after being convicted on a previous charge.

His jail term would have been about nine months.

Ferwerda has been jailed in La Crosse since late July, with a cash bond set at $10,000.
