City of La Crosse making plans for loan company building

What does the city of La Crosse plan to do with an old office building located near the southside festgrounds? 

Nothing definite yet, according to city planner Jason Gilman.   

The city council voted last week to buy the old loan company office on 3rd Street for $600,000. 

Gilman says that piece of property shows up in three different development plans for the area near the festgrounds and La Crosse City Hall, and it could be developed to bring in more tax revenue than it was worth before.    

Gilman added that the city has not closed on the purchase yet, because it’s still looking into the age of the building and the possible presence of contamination on the site.
