La Crosse sheriff’s office to help with Democratic convention security in Milwaukee
The La Crosse Sheriff’s Department will be among law enforcement to help with security at next year’s Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee.
Chief Deputy Mike Horstman is awaiting further instructions on how La Crosse County personnel will be put to work.
Horstman said the county was not asked to help out with security when the Republican convention met in St. Paul in 2008.
The convention happens July 13-16.
About 50,000 people are expected to attend the weeklong meeting at Fiserv Forum.
