Have you taken the survey yet?

A La Crosse area magazine is conducting a survey to find out which towns on the Mississippi River have the best holiday attractions.

River Travel Magazine began taking votes for the best “holiday river town” Monday, with the balloting scheduled to end on Dec. 20.

Brent Hanifl, the magazine’s media director, says the poll calls attention to unusual projects like an “ice carousel” made for a celebration in Little Falls, Minn.

La Crosse is among more than 70 cities included on the ballot. Hanifl says the biggest towns, however, may not necessarily come out on top.

For example, Davenport, Iowa, is leading balloting in a “larger cities” category.

Results of the poll will be released on Christmas.
