Woman arrested after Monroe County chase still faces theft charge in La Crosse

Two counties may try to consolidate criminal charges against a Rochester, Minn., woman, now jailed in Sparta, Wis.

Paris Akon’s scheduled plea hearing Tuesday in La Crosse on a retail theft charge was postponed at the request of her attorney.

Akon was arrested with Janssen McGee last week near the Monroe County animal shelter, after a high-speed chase from Tomah to Sparta. 

The two are accused of carrying marijuana in their car. 

McGee’s bond is $75,000 cash, while bond for Akon was set at $10,000. 

They’re due back in court in Sparta on Thursday.
