Monroe County man gets prison for child abuse death

A Monroe County man is sentenced to 6 years in prison for causing the death of his infant son in 2015.

Troy Tralmer of Warrens was sentenced Wednesday in Sparta, and will be on supervision after his release from prison.

In September, Tralmer pled guilty to child neglect causing great bodily harm in the death of his son Chad.

A reckless homicide charge against Tralmer was dismissed as part of that plea.

The three-month-old boy had a skull fracture and broken ribs, and Tralmer claimed that he had dropped the baby while trying to stop him from choking.

A change in lawyers is considered one reason why the plea and sentencing were delayed until four years after the child’s death.
