A 17-year-old from Mabel has been killed in a New Year’s Day highway crash in that town.

He’s been identified as Dylan Delaney, one of three people in a car that collided with a semi carrying cattle, at an intersection on Highway 44.

The others in the car, driver Lauren Bedard of Houston and another male passenger, were taken to Gundersen in La Crosse for treatment.

Bedard’s car was in the act of making a left turn just after 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, when it collided with the semi driven by a Rushford man.

The semi, containing about three dozen cows, rolled onto its side.

At least one cow died in the crash.
