La Crosse due for 1st heavy snow of the new year

If you like seeing the ground without snow in January, enjoy it while you can. 

A weekend snowstorm is moving into southern Wisconsin. The National Weather Service says La Crosse could get about 3 inches of snow between noon on Saturday and early Sunday morning. 

The chance of snow increases the closer you get to Lake Michigan, but there’s little chance of it north of Winona. 

At this time last year, La Crosse had no snow cover.

The snowiest period of the winter for La Crosse in 2019 began on January 17th, with almost 50 inches of snow recorded by the 1st of March. 

The city’s only measurable snow so far in 2020 has been .4 of an inch on January 3rd.
