Lovers of the arts in the La Crosse area have exceeded the money-raising goal of a local arts umbrella group.

After pushing back its deadline, the United Fund for the Arts and Humanities (UFAH) raised over $128,000 for 11 local nonprofits.

The original deadline was New Year’s Eve, but executive director Mindy Stetzer said contributions which came in afterward brought in $128,366. The goal was $125,000.

The largest share of the money raised will go to the Coulee Chordsmen.

More than 90 per cent of the money raised by UFAH gets distributed to, now, 12 local nonprofits, from performing organizations to the Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center.

That newest member to get funding from UFAH for 2020 is The Heider Center of West Salem.
