No one home but fire damages Rose Street residence

The La Crosse Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at a Rose Street residence at 3:03 p.m. Monday.

Crews were on the scene in 2 minutes.

Thick smoke was coming from the roof and chimney, as 25 firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, as it extended into the walls.

The house was vacant at the time and there were no injuries on the scene.

Crews report moderate fire and severe smoke damage to the building.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
