Xcel cable replacement project extended in Riverside Park

Digging on the riverfront isn’t done yet for Xcel Energy. 

The power company has been given an extension until the end of February to complete an electric line replacement project in La Crosse’s Riverside Park. 

The extension was approved Monday morning by the La Crosse board of public works. 

Xcel began replacement of a buried cable in September, and the work was supposed to be completed by November. 

Work on the electric cables has coincided with reconstruction of the park bandstand, and the building of a wooden bandshell over the concert stage.  

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
