State Supreme Court decides not to hear two area appeals
The Wisconsin Supreme Court will not review the case of a Tomah man sent to prison for domestic violence against his wife.
Last year, a state appeals court upheld the conviction of Torry Anderson Senior on 18 counts, including sexual assault and strangling.
Anderson was tried for assaulting his wife at knifepoint and threatening to kill her.
The 60-year-old Anderson is serving a 17-year prison term.
The high court also has chosen not to take up the appeal of a Westby man wanting to be resentenced for an armed robbery.
Demonz McClain claims that a Vernon County judge gave him an excessive sentence, for failing to cooperate with police after the robbery.
McClain was ordered to serve four years in prison, compared to a possible maximum of 28 years for the robbery charge.
An appeals court ruled that McClain’s criminal history and the seriousness of the crime warranted prison time.
