8-inch snowfall expected Sunday in La Crosse

La Crosse has managed to dodge big storms all winter, but this might be the weekend that the lucky streak runs out. 

The National Weather Service predicts 8 inches of snow for La Crosse on Sunday, between midnight and 6 p.m. 

La Crosse is expected to be in the path of the heaviest snowfall, along with Winona and Black River Falls. 

Lesser amounts are expected in Vernon County, and areas farther south. 

La Crosse has received no snow yet in February, after getting about 12 inches in January. 

The snowiest day of the season so far in La Crosse has been November 6th, when 4-and-a-half inches fell.  

The snow cover in La Crosse left over from January is now down to an average of 3 inches.
