Sparta man who allegedly shot La Crosse police officer gets year in jail for meth possession
The man accused of shooting a La Crosse police officer during an arrest last summer is still waiting to be tried in that case.
Monday, though, Allen Kruk resolved two other criminal cases against him with a plea agreement before Judge Ramona Gonzalez.
Kruk pled guilty to meth possession, while other related charges were dismissed.
Kruk was sentenced to spend the next eight months in jail, and his attempted murder trial is expected to happen before this sentence runs out.
The 35-year-old Sparta man said he has “had a hard lesson learned in pain,” after being shot “five times point blank” by Officer Dustin Darling in August.
Darling was wearing a protective vest, and returned fire against Kruk.
Kruk had 13 new criminal charges filed in Monroe County last week, including burglary, theft and criminal trespass.
Kruk is scheduled to appear in Sparta on those charges on March 2nd.
