About 250 people so far have signed up to take the “plunge” in La Crosse next month.

The Polar Plunge for Special Olympics happens March 7th at Black River beach.

Spokeswoman Kerry Gloede says while most of the people going into the cold water will be adults, they’re including a Pee Wee Plunge for young kids, who would only have to raise $50 in pledges.

Adult plungers are expected to raise at least $75 to take part in Polar Plunge.

Kerry says this year, a deejay will be on the beach to help plungers make a musical splash, by playing a special plunge song if they request one.

Polar Plunge is returning to the Black River after many years at Pettibone Beach on the Mississippi.

At Black River, the day’s events will include a winter beach volleyball tournament.
