Second suspect in drug overdose death sentenced in La Crosse

On Tuesday, Zachary Miller was sentenced to prison by a La Crosse judge for bringing heroin to a friend who overdosed and died.

In order to make that delivery to Kyle Bott in 2017, Miller got a ride from Jenifer Tenner of La Crosse.

Wednesday, Tenner also was sentenced to prison for her alleged role in Bott’s drug death, with the prison term being stayed so Tenner can serve time in jail and attend drug court.

Both Tenner and Miller have been sentenced to serve three years in prison, with Miller starting his term immediately.

Tenner does risk being sent to prison if she violates conditions of her sentence.

Although police had investigated whether Tenner knew Bott and arranged for Miller to bring him drugs, Tenner says she did not know Bott, and only met him briefly on the day of the drug transaction.

Bott overdosed on Father’s Day of 2017, and died three days later.

Judge Ramona Gonzalez says that during the time Tenner is under court supervision, she must be in custody for four days in June every year, marking the anniversary of the four days between Bott’s overdose and his death.
