American Countess being added to riverboat cruise list

A former floating casino will soon become the newest cruise boat to travel on the Upper Mississippi. 

The American Countess has been built on the hull of a former casino boat used in Iowa, which was called the Kanesville Queen. 

The Countess can carry up to 245 passengers, and will make its first trip north of St. Louis just before Labor Day, including scheduled stops in La Crosse on its way up and down the river.  

The Countess is the fourth cruise boat commissioned by the American Queen Steamboat Company for use on the Mississippi.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
