Jackson County will get a second circuit judge next year.

Wisconsin state courts director Randy Koschnick has chosen Jackson, Dunn, Marathon, and Calumet Counties to receive new court branches in 2021.

Last week, Governor Tony Evers signed a bill allowing the state to select 12 counties that should have more judges, based on heavy caseloads and support from county officials.

Jackson County now has just one circuit judge, Anna Becker.

Because Becker’s term expires in 2021, both branches of court would have elections in April of next year.
