Evers directs a ban on gatherings of 50 people or more

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers has directed the Department of Health Services to ban all gatherings of 50 people or more.

Evers said in a series of tweets Monday afternoon that services like grocery stores, food pantries, childcare centers, pharmacies, and hospitals would be exempt from the order.

The governor acknowledged the impact the order could have on businesses and families but added that keeping people healthy and safe has to be their highest priority.

More information is expected at a press briefing this afternoon.
