Suspect in Racine shooting arrested on French Island, sent back to Racine
An attempted murder suspect from Racine has been arrested on French Island.
Twenty-six-year-old Gregory Wells surrendered Wednesday night to police in the Town of Campbell, after a search of an apartment on Williams Street.
On Thursday afternoon, Wells was taken from the La Crosse jail to be transported back to Racine County.
Racine Police told cops in Campbell that Wells was wanted in a gang-related shooting that happened on March 12th, and a search warrant led the county and city of La Crosse emergency response teams to the local apartment.
Wells is suspected of 25 criminal counts, including attempted murder and reckless endangerment.
The arrest happened around 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
